Sensory Room Design
TFH have been designing sensory rooms for 40 years. We would love to design yours, so please get in touch. Meanwhile check out our Sensory Corners. We have designed them to help you pick combinations of compatible kit. Moreover they are modular and you can pick all 4 for ready made room.
I understand you're thinking about creating a Sensory Room and you've come to the right place: TFH are a UK manufacturer that's been developing state-of-the-art sensory kit since the earliest days of Snoezelen Therapy

FAQ
What is Snoezelen therapy?
A gentle approach. The idea that people should have time to be, not to do. To take pleasure from their environment. Literally to doze and to sniff (in Dutch). Of course there is more to it but that is the core.
Can you afford an MSE and do you have the space?
You need about £8-30k and a space with some uncluttered zones for a bespoke sensory room. However, our Sensory Corners start at £1,187!
£8k Sensory room minimum?
Paying for us to come a long way from Kidderminster to fit less than £8k of Kit just never materialises.
Our Vecta mobile MSE range starts at £1,500 and our Sensory Corners start at £1,187.
I don’t have a clutter-free zone
We can work around anything, it just cost more. Our top end Vecta is £7k and needs no clutter-free zone.
My population is old, strong, destructive, comatose
Fine, MSE is still largely “for” people with special needs, so for the record that includes Autism, PMLD, dementia, sensory processing disorder.
I work in a hospital, residential centre, school, education, healthcare, public sector or at home.
So do we.
Do you do different types of MSE : calming, energising, immersive etc?
All sensory rooms look alike, you know it’s an MSE though all are slightly different. The big difference is the presence of a swing. A swing adds some danger which is anathema to the first principle of MSE (this is a safe space) but that’s ok somehow.
Is a multi-sensory environment the same as a sensory room?
Yes of course but MSE is easier to say than MSR, so Environment sticks around. Plus it sounds more impressive, which is itself important. We say MSE and Sensory Room and retain the importance.
What is a Sensory Room?
A place where the rules are different. It’s full of kit designed to free your senses, so it is about the people in it. It’s a sensory bridge between people and YOU are the most interactive, sensitive, rewarding, dynamic thing in there. A sensory room is where your senses take over.
What’s the Sensory room design process? Why TFH?
If TFH build yours you will be paying for Kit and Fit. You will choose your sensory equipment from our range of Kit and ours is the best, and we will come and install it. Then we will measure the gaps and then we will Fit the padding in some or all of those gaps. If you don’t want us to Fit, then you can install it yourself, honestly.
We will work out a design that you like to fit your budget and you pay us when we are done, or upfront if you want to install yourself.
What can I expect from the space once it is installed?
A Multi Sensory Environment is transformative, in the moment, (the wow factor is a big), and also for the whole institution that they exist within. There is something magical about a building with an MSE in it, it becomes the heart of the building and we encourage minimal training so that everyone (even the accountants) have used it and everyone at all times carries a little bit of MSE magic with them wherever they are in that building.
How much training do I need?
Almost none, some people are naturals, others need to forget more than they need to learn. There is one simple principle. This poster will be displayed outside the MSE and this one within it. Your training is complete. (further training is available).
Will it last?
If you look after it. Our Sensory Equipment comes with a one year warranty, and we offer a service package.
Can I upgrade later?
Yes, but if that's on the cards let us know, your ultimate MSE can be planned for in our initial design. Alternatively go for one of our Modular Sensory Corners and you can always add another later!
Can I visit one first?
We have a showroom you can visit, or browse around remotely.
Is there funding help?
We can help gee up your backers with visuals, or a tour.
Can you work with our builder or architect?
Sure. Actually we would love to get to know your architect. If you are doing electrical work we want to give very specific information, but in general do not let them put a dado rail in!
Does MSE actually work?
They clearly work, the problem is proof.
We like our customers to say “well that worked” ritually after every good session, because proof that MSE’s work is hard to come by for many reasons.
What’s the lead time?
TFH International keep £4M worth of Kit in stock, bespoke (pads to Fit the gaps) takes 4 weeks, Fit requires diary synergy (holidays?).
