Park Lane Special School
Park Lane Special School had lots of space for a Sensory Room. When designing we split the room in to 2 different spaces. One was focused on interactive projection and the other was a more standard sensory space.

What the space needed
We designed and installed a bespoke sensory room for Park Lane Special School. With a large space like this often the budget become more important to work around. So we worked out what features were most important and were able to get them all into the space. Its great to see such a complete sensory room.
Features and equipment
The finished room brings together eight pieces of sensory equipment, each doing a different job:
- Bubble column - bright, controllable colours with adjustable air flow: full power for a stimulating effect, turned down for something calmer, plus a choice of pulse settings.
- Chromatheme projector - an interactive projection system with around 100 themed videos, replacing the traditional wheel-changing projector.
- Gravity Wonderwall - a wonderfully tactile wooden panel with a number of ways to play.
- Air Body Rocker - a fun inflatable rocker that can be relaxed in or rock more excitedly.
- Pixels panel - an interactive light panel with three modes for creating your own patterns.
- Hurricane Tube - a water free Bubble Column, with a thousand beads that can swarm and float.
- Mood Furniture - light makes furniture fun, with a number of mood stools around a mood table forms a fun place to sit.
- Interactive Projector - The interactive projector required its own space but creates a number of different ways to play.
- Padding - soft wall padding around the interactive panels, and a comfortable spot to lie down.
The work we did
After an initial visit, we put together a design based on the space and the equipment the team wanted to see, refining it over a few iterations before settling on the final layout.
The install happened over two visits: the sensory equipment went in first, then we took accurate measurements so the padding could be made to fit properly before it was installed on a later visit.
